===How It Works===

# Wikipedia+ compares the URLs of new page requests with the [[WikipediaPlus_enabling_a_Website#Access_URLs | Access URL]]s of [[Website Configuration | preferred sites]] (which include wikipedia though the GUI doesn't show this). If the URL matches this pattern, then WikipediaPlus deduce the particular '{PageName}' you are browsing to and:
#* Cycles through your preferred sites and issues a HEAD request to each one in turn to a new URL that it forms by replacing '{PageName}' with the page name deduced the URL
# It also intercepts page loads and once the page title is available Wikipedia+ checks whether this matches the existing '{PageName}' deduced from the URL. If it is different it:
#* Cycles through your preferred sites and issues a HEAD request to each one in turn to a new URL that it forms by replacing '{PageName}' with the page name deduced from the page title
# The HTTP return code of these HEAD requests are checked. If this is <400, it attempts to notify the user

The addon stores 2 XML files, both in your Mozilla profile directory:

The contents of these files are accessible through the GUI.

===Future Plans===

Future versions of the software ''may'' collect more information, but will not do so in an effort to identify individual users. The focus would be on aggregating shared experience and use of the software in an effort to enhance its effectiveness at making helpful suggestions. Any data collection will be voluntary (an easy opt out will be provided) and will be announced on the software's [http://users.wikipediaplus.org/listinfo.cgi/wpusers-wikipediaplus.org mailing list] and [[download | download page]].

==Website==

This website counts accesses from the software's 'About' tab, via the URL. No personally identifying data is collected - the only data collected is the software version number and locale.
